No, I don't think so. According to the instructions, it is supposed to be on the outside and the strap is not shaped to hang the can off to the side. Also, it will not line up with the header correctly if I move it over and it will interfere really badly with the shock. That said it would look cleaner if it bolted from the back side. I would have to bend up the strap in my vise to get it to more of a "D" shape, but I'm pretty sure that will require more strap length than is available as it would have to pull away from the can to offset to one side. The opposite side would have to loop over the top and back up to line up the bolt holes...
