What's wrong with a 500 mile one day ride?
#5
I've done a few 750 mile days. It's not something you usually do for fun, but more to get from point A to point B.

The first time I did it I was riding an old Kaw 750 parallel twin (i.e. a real boneshaker). It had no cruise control and about 20 mi. from home, my wrist became so numb that I couldn't hold the throttle open anymore. Had to sit on the shoulder of the interstate for 1/2 an hour (at 2 a.m.) until the feeling came back and I could ride the last few miles home.

Last time I did it was on the CB750. Much more comfortable than the old twin, but still pretty painful after 12 hrs. in the seat.

Both rides were at the end of long road trips and I just didn't feel like spending another night on the road, so I pushed on.

I cannot understand those Iron Butt riders that do this regularly for fun.
