HD had such high hopes for the VRod. They spent a cuss of money to develop it, and even built a factory to manufacture them. This was at the peak of the Harley fad. The trouble was, the vast majority of HD customers didn't want them; they wanted the traditional potato potato engine, not some water-cooled Porsche design that happened to be an order of magnitude better technically. People were horrified at the idea of the "Revolution" engine taking over the big twin line of bikes.
Its going to be very interesying to see how well their new line of bikes sells. Not only ate they water cooled, but they're made in India! Quite a departure for the faithful...
