Can't comment on the Honda CTX700, however the DCT found on other Honda models has its attributes.
In the context of the NC750X, I find the 6-speed DCT:
* Responsive off the start
* Smooth in shifting
* Fast in shifting
* Gets good economy
From my experience, I run mostly in manual mode and control the up and down shift when I want it. The DCT appears to respect Manual Mode requests well. When feeling very lazy like in congestion, Sport Mode 2 (S2) appears useful. When cornering aggressively, Manual Mode appears to work well. Conversely, I do not like Drive Mode because Honda's decision when to shift does not suit me.
