Speaking of a Road King
#1
Approx. 4-5 months ago a close friend in our small circle of associates put his 2006 Road King up for sale on short notice. He was leaving to accompany his wife who took a job offer overseas as a medical provider for crazy money. He gave his truck to their son and wanted the Harley gone as when they come back in 2-3 years the plan was to get something new and he didn't want the bike just sitting in the garage.

Offered it to the first taker for $3,500 with the following: aftermarket pipes, seats, windshield, chromed shoulder height apes, mid height sissy bar, rack, all lines replaced with braided stainless, every light shade or louver and literally every chrome accessory sold by Harley for this model, including the forks. 19 Skulls on the bike in total on those extra parts. Also comes with original replacement parts. 56,000 miles. All service done on time by Harley... Never hot rodded etc.

Bike is shown in the solo configuration in the pic. Friend removed apes and put stock bar back on.

I contemplated it not for myself, but for my son-in-law. Figured he was the lone man out in the family whiteout a bike and this was the right price and had enough of a cool factor for him (all the other youngsters in the family ride Harley's).

As I was running it past the wife one of my buds said he'd take it. No big deal really. Wife was luke-warm on the idea and I texted my Bud and told him I have first right of refusal should it come back on the market. He was OK with that.

Fast forward to last night....I get a text from my friend who owns the Road King..."Frulk, if you still want that Road King I'll set up nicely"
I replied asking what exactly that means. He's currently out of state and I'm waiting on the reply. I suspect that Road King is coming home from the foster home after all.

Plan is to acquire it, have it professionally detailed. Take a long weekend solo trip on it to complete an ops check and then hand it over to the son-in-law.
