But Suzuki, on their latest 2023 V-Strom 800DE only want you to change the oil filter every third oil change, albeit they are every 6,000km.
I applaud this realism in what an oil filter is being asked to do and how much less work they need to do on todays modern engines. It saves the consumer another cost and is reducing the amount of resources used. The argument being that as the filter ages it is increasingly adept of filtering ever finer particles without detrimental loss of flow.
And on that subject here is me doing a 3000km oil change today on my flat four powered air-cooled machine (VW style) which doesn't even have an oil filter, just a single weight SAE30 oil with a high zinc content.
