To my knowledge, they don't use break in oil from the factory. It's supposed to be changed at 600 miles during the break in period, but it's 10w30. My bike came new with 10w30 oil.
I put in 10w30 dino oil at the 600 mile service then switched to 10w40 dino at 2000 miles. With the 10w40, I always felt like the transmission was louder and didn't quite feel right. At 4000 miles I switched to 10w30 semi synthetic - made a subtle but nice improvement - transmission is quieter and shifting is smoother - especially downshifting to first. Don't think it's my imagination, but my bike likes 10w30 better than 10w40.

Also, is the oil level correct?
I did not make any other changes. The sound is mostly noticeable at idle .

Sorry I don't even have a cellphone. Thanks for the idea.

I am not qualified, and don't know what to do.
