Scroll to the bottom to see how the different ratings (MA, MA1, MA2 & MB) effect the feel and engagement of the clutch.

The call out for the CB1100 is "JASO T 903 standard MA, or higher". While a little vague, "higher" appears to mean MA1 or MA2. The MB rating has much different friction numbers, which supports this statement "JASO MA is the category for high clutch friction oils and JASO MB is for low friction oils" made by the Chairman of the JASO Motorcycle Oil Working Group, in a different article.

I presume that the "MB" rated oils would have the words "Energy Conserving" or "Resource Conserving" showing on the API label, that the manual clearly instructs us to avoid.

Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves...

Throw the grenade and leave, eh ?

:-)

The most sensible way out of this, to me, is to just use what the manufacturer recommends (begin the 'but I know better' responses !)

C-ya, now I'M outta here !

Yes, but I didn't pull the pin before I tossed it! I was glad to have come across some true measurement numbers, and was hoping it provided information, rather than emotion!
