Just my 2 cents from a close to retirement service manager at a multi-brand dealership, including Honda, concerning valve adjustments for someone trying to decide whether or not to have it done. I agree with all the points made by Ferret and in fact do tell customers most of the time their valves will probably be in spec, however, I also tell them that valve "clatter" or other noises are usually not indicators. The vast majority of the time in modern engines the intake valve clearance gets tighter, not looser, therefore there is often no audible difference.
