I use a battery tender jr. It also comes with a capped pigtail you leave attached to the battery and fish it out a convenient location for easy access. There is a little slot in the plastic by the rear fender and I fished mine out there (look in front of shock in pic)

on one of my other bikes I fished it out under the front of the seat and use it to power either GPS or heated gear depending on my need. Here it's plugged into the battery tender and wire with red band is wire for heat troller for my heated gear. Unplug from tender, plug in troller and you're ready to go.
