Battery Charger - Ka Umikumakahi_imp - 12-08-2014 I'm going to purchase a battery charger, and I'm looking at the Honda Optimate 3, and the Battery Tender Plus. I want something that will allow me to charge/tend the battery without always having to remove the seat and tool tray. Any recommendations/concerns? It comes with a pigtail with a capped end that you can leave on the bike and route to a convenient location for plugging into the Optimate Lead. The only problem I had was the large fuse that is on the one lead. I recall that I had to position it carefully so that it doesn't interfere with the tool tray/battery box. RE: Battery Charger - the Ferret - 12-08-2014 I use a battery tender jr. It also comes with a capped pigtail you leave attached to the battery and fish it out a convenient location for easy access. There is a little slot in the plastic by the rear fender and I fished mine out there (look in front of shock in pic) [url=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/theferret111/media/seatstrap1_zpsf8aeab9f.jpg.html] ![]() on one of my other bikes I fished it out under the front of the seat and use it to power either GPS or heated gear depending on my need. Here it's plugged into the battery tender and wire with red band is wire for heat troller for my heated gear. Unplug from tender, plug in troller and you're ready to go. RE: Battery Charger - emptysea - 12-08-2014 I have two Schumacher chargers, mainly because the Schumacher family is from my town and I'm friends with some of them, but they work well, too. I have the SP1 and the SP2. Both connect to my bikes with the pigtail connector so the seats stay on. http://www.batterychargers.com/CategoryDetail.aspx?CategoryName=Battery-Charger%2FMaintainer_Power-Sports-%2F-Recreation_Charge-%2F-Maintain RE: Battery Charger - Houtman_imp - 12-08-2014 I use the Optimate 4 and think that they are a better charger than some of the others. They have a lot of accessories available plus they give a lot of info when charging your batteries. RE: Battery Charger - Rocky_imp - 12-09-2014 I've been using one of the original Battery Tender's that I bought when they first came out years ago, but recently bought an Optimate 3+ and have been using that the most now because of its extra features. I'll probably retire/sell the BT. RE: Battery Charger - Motogeezer1949_imp - 12-09-2014 I've been using the BT Junior for about 15 years on all my occasionally used vehicles. Never any issues. I'm sure pretty much all the modern "tenders" are bullet proof
Battery Charger - meowguy_imp - 12-10-2014 My vote is for Honda Optimate. I have two. One for my Cb1100 and the other for my standby generator for my house. They work great and it comes with the pigtail to connect it to your battery. RE: Battery Charger - Huladog_imp - 12-11-2014 You can pickup the battery leads/connectors from Amazon (usually under the Battery Tender accessories) and if you're at Walmart look for the Schumacher battery chargers in the auto section, good chargers at good prices even in Honolulu!
