chain adjustment and tire repair, possibly spare cables and the tools to replace them. But it seems that when something breaks it will require one or major tool you don't have. So in the future you carry those tools - and will never need them again.
Since this is a road bike, (vs the dirt bike where more things can go wrong due to the nature of the ride and where you may be when it goes south), tire fix and chain adjustment tools will cover, WAG, 98% of your user doable repairs. A credit card and AAA will cover the rest.
I tend to carry a multi-tool and a couple T handle metric allen wrenches too; mainly because Moto Guzzi's use those for a ton of things. And gorilla tape to hold tupperware together if you have that. Last year I started experimenting with a HAM radio, but I think a satellite phone would have been better.
Speaking of SAT phones. A fellow I know gave us a little lecture on them since he tends to get in trouble out in the middle of Nevada where cell coverage is nil. He carries two different sat phones and the cell phone, the Spot as a last resort - it does not allow two way comms so you don't know if you were heard and the folks that did hear you don't know if you need a simple tow to get your bike out of the sink hole it fell in or a helicopter ride to the best ER facility. Or the morgue. Since they all have their failure modes and their strong suits he tends to carry all of them - because he has had to use them. He is on the back side of his 60's, rides like he is in his 20's, but knows he does not bounce like he used to. sigh...
