I am pretty sure Don Guhl can reflash it back to stock, of course it means shipping and all that. Did you check with him about the update which resolves the idle issue? He might know the workaround. What he would do is download the updated map containing the fix, see what Honda did, and incorporate that into future performance flashes. His software should be able to totally clear your ECU, unlike what your dealer is using, which is basically idiot-proof. BMW does it the same way, they actually connect to the Internet and the map is downloaded from a server.
Then you take the bike back to your dealer and their software should recognize it as outdated, and allow an update.
After that you ship it back to Don, and the rest is as you indicated.
I believe that is how it would work but Mr. Guhl can tell you with a higher degree of confidence.
Of course it is always possible your dealer is NOT using a network connection and is using instead a standalone laptop-based flash software, in which case their equipment is out of date. Because if Don used the original software/flash as a basis, his work generally overwrites certain sections and leaves the rest alone. Thus the version number should be the same. Keep this thread updated when you can as it would be interesting to see how all this turns out.

I believe you will need to send the ECU back to Don as it is, he should be able to wipe it clean and reload the original OEM program/map.
I'd delayed doing it as I've had my ECU Flashed by Guhl Motors and the general consensus seems to be that the Dealer Re-Map software would over write the work Guhl Motors had done to the ECU.
I spoke with Don at Guhl Motors last week and he was incredibly helpful.
He's very interested to see what differences the new map from Honda has over the old one. I'm going to have the Honda re-map done and test to see if the limiters have been put back in place. If they have I'm going to send the ECU back to Don and he's going to go thru the new map and note the modifications. He can then update his re-flash with the mods Honda have made for the models with an issue.
I'll keep you posted on what we find out....
