The little screw is connectd to a wiper on the inside of the window. When you turn it, it wipes the window.
The knurled plug is most likely a replacement made by one of our members and sold to a bunch of us. The original is a plastic plug that with a 'blade' I guess you call it that you grab.
The oil is pretty clear, or light honey colored and is probably over the upper limit line. When you drain it, you will see what is going on.
