My bottle of Pro Honda GN4 10W30 bike oil says SJ.
Is actually labeled 10W30 SJ
I also have that Honda generator, and a 3KW Honda gen. The oil for them I have is Honda Power Equipment, SAE 10W30, meets or exceeds API SM standards.
I am no oil expert, but car oils have friction modifiers that can mess up a motorcycle wet clutch. Motorcycle specific oil won’t mess up a wet clutch (like ours). Those generators don’t have clutches. I’d put bike oil in mine if I had too. YMMV.
Hopefully the oil guys will chime in with more info. And just like that I made this an oil thread!!!
