Uncomfortable, seat or position?
#1
Did the Corbin( or other after market) seat owners ever report back and say how much more comfortable their seats are than stock? I may have missed that....
I'm thinking it may be the relaxed riding position that puts all the weight on your butt. In my case after about an hour, my tail bone area gets sore and numb...does the Corbin help this?
I could ride most of the day on my 86 900 Ninja.....I'm thinking leaning over and forward puts pressure on a different part of your butt and shares some of the weight with your arms....
Just like on a bicycle, if you're going to ride all day, you want proper position, leaning over with bars even or slightly below seat height, not sitting up like on a beach cruiser. .....I wonder if this is the real problem with the sore CB1100 seat or is it really the seat design and material?

Both the stock seat and position were uncomfortable to me. I've heard Corbin owners say it's is much more comfortable. I got the K&H high seat and have found it relaxed the bend in my knees, prevented me from sliding forward on the seat while riding, and stopped my post ride tailbone pain.

I dint change bar position or foot pegs. I only ditched the stock seat.

Today I had my second trip with the Corbin seat on my CB1100 and like it very much .I have the standard Corbin seat and the slightly higher passenger part gives a nice support to your back.I did not like the standard Honda seat at all but now I can ride the bike for hours and no sore butt.

I put another inch of foam on the stock seat and added some one inch bar risers. I rolled the bars back a little it and it gave me a much more relaxed seating position. I am going to try that for about a 1000 miles before I look at getting a new seat. But right now I think I have addressed my seat and ergos issues.

Stock seat is already too soft. No support. The Corbin is not and supports entire ass so you don't get hot spots. Their is no comparison. Rode stock about 45 minutes to hour straight & it burned. Not anymore. Seat height about the same. Sit back a tad more. No sliding forward unless you want to.

Guess I am lucky. Never felt the need to buy a custom seat for any motorcycle I have ever owned. Put several 10 hour days in a row on the CB on my trip down to the BRP/Dragon last month. It would get uncomfortable by the time I needed to fill up again, but after getting gas I was ready to roll until it ran out again. Droning on the freeway is harder on the bum than running back roads.

Ah, Mr. Ferret, you need to ride a Guzzi. With a few exceptions (people's butts that is) few find the stock Guzzi seat comfortable. The Quota was a torture device. The Griso not much better. I've heard the new 1400 is nice while sitting on it in the showroom floor quickly renders your bum useless after a short time.

For the Quota I had a seat made, for the Griso; if I keep her, I have a spare seat ready to be sacrificed to the butt gods. The Bonneville T100 felt very comfortable but no long rides were attemtped. The CB1100 also feels good for times under an hour. I hope to get a ride in tomorrow to stretch the times out a bit to see how it really feels.

Lol..you could ride my brothers 850 Eldorado all day long. Best seat I've ever ridden on.

Most people hate every stock seat. My brother hates the seat on his Bonneville, so much so he permanently attached a gel pad. I rode the same bike 2000 miles in 7 days no problem with the seat.

Funny, mfgs are good at frames, electronics, Fi, motors, transmissions, brakes but just can't seem to figure out seats or suspensions according to consumers.

Ferret, you either have an iron but or are on a steady diet of Percocet/Vicoden......

A buddy had an old round head Guzzi and that seat had promise. I took a 1998 EV for a test ride and the dang seat had s bump in it (for the ECU I was told) right where my tail bone wanted to sit. I didn't buy it. Smile

Not all their seats are torture devices and many crotch rockets make their seat seem like couches.
