Here they are in roughly the same location, but two years apart. This is Clinton Gulch Reservoir, elevation 11,080', located about 16 miles north of Leadville, CO. For those unfamiliar with the area, Copper Mountain is another 7 miles up the road, and Breckenridge is on the other side of the peaks, which are about 13,800' elevation.

And if you had bought the V7, after checking out the CB1100 and posted on the Guzzi thread; I'd give you the same answer. Big Grin A lot of nice bikes out there, makes it hard to narrow it down.
Right! Except my second is a KLR650 and my third is a Yamaha xs650 and my fourth...well it WAS a little Honda CGL125 that I just sold in Costa Rica:

But really, I don't need 3-4 bikes, so the xs650 is for sale too, or will be soon once the weather gets better, oh, in about 2-3 years or whenever someone offers me enough. ; ) so it will be down to the KLR650 and the CB soon.

So true about hard to narrow down. When I bought my KLR650 it was the only bike of its type I was interested in, although now I would look hard at a dr650 or xl650 if I were buying that genre. Still, it was very fun comparing the bikes this time around and now I can have my late evenings back for sleeping instead of pouring over the different mc sites online.

I went with the XR650L, knowing what I know now I'd get the DR. Too many cheap bits that fail on the XR (and thumper talk.com says these guys are as reliable as rocks while at the same time admitting the weaknesses I suffered through. It's sorted now, but dang! It was not a good trip.

The XR650L is the least favorite bike I have owned by a considerable margin. Wouldn't recommend one for anybody. Second time around, I would get either the DR or KLR.

Although I bought my son's F800GS instead. Celebrate

What do you mean by "the whole bag issue"? Putting saddle bags on it or panniers?

After 4 days of a little snow and black ice, things finally melted and dried by late morning, and since I had window, went for 20 mile ride in 40 degree weather along the Columbia River. First impressions...you probably remember them:
1. started up and watched the rpm hover around 1200rpm...felt weird not messing with the choke lever for I've never had a FI bike.
2. Good grief! I'm in second when normally I'm looking for 4th on the KLR
3. I don't feel the need for 4th until I enter hiway 84. Does this bike ever break 3000rpm? : )
4. Six gears? Still, it pulls pretty nice in all gears.
5. dual disk brakes up front...holy bat brakes! I've never had a bike stop like this (consider my history: sportster, klr, xs650, kawasaki ke250, honda cgl125)
6. clutch lever soooo easy to pull (again, my xs650 is pretty stiff)
7. hands down the most modern feeling bike I've owned...and retro at that!
8. Is it still running? Quietest bike I've had too.
9. are these signals self-cancelling? guess not.
10. the most symmetrical bike I've ever ridden
11. I'm a little tall for the bike, but it's do-able; long trips will tell me more.
12. fun 20 mile jaunt, but work was a-callin'
13. absorbs bumps less than my klr, but that's apples to oranges
14. cool!

Excellent "list", pdedse! And I agree with all 14 points you listed.

It's only been since last Sunday since my second ride yet I'm chewing finger nails here, waiting for the sun to rise, and temps to hit at least 45... then I'm off for a couple hours of 'therapy'.

Ride safe my friend...
