Left or Right Mount Up ?
#11
I always get on from the right as I have long legs.

Always, always, always from the left - just like a horse, or a car...at least here in the good ol' U.S. of A., anyway. Big Grin

Btw, I will mount my horses from either side. It is poor practice to mount from the same side all the time.

I had the same thought once, JustCruising, when I saw a picture of redbirds CB on its side stand leaning into the road an any oncoming traffic. It struck me as odd then and, like you, I wondered whether it harked back to countries where we drive on the left. On reflection, I suspect it's more likely to have evolved from our relationship with horses which I was always taught to mount from the left. That's not to deny your expertise kenny, just saying what I was taught.

I was taught the same thing as a kid, to only mount from the left. However, it is actually not the best for the horse as you are just training the horse to spook if mounted from the right by only mounting from one side.

Ok I just went out and mounted my CB from the right. It did not get spooked. Tongue

Always from the left side. I've never really thought of it, as I always park at about 45 degrees pointing toward the direction of traffic.

Since bikes started with kickstarters on the right wouldn't it be expected to mount from the left -- put down peddle, mount from left placing right foot on kicker, kick with right foot?

Yeah, it's occurred to me that it's another artefact of there being more right handed people.

Popgun, a word of advice, don't try that again for at least a couple of weeks lest you cop a good kick where it hurts. Big Grin
