Summer touch sensitive gloves rec?
#1
Hi all. Are there any recommendations for light-weight summer gloves that have touch sensitive finger tips for phone usage? Thanks!

In my experience, gloves are perhaps the most delicate parts of riding gear when it comes to fitment, the shape and size needs to be absolutely perfect for the hand to feel comfortable, so recommendations are somewhat ungrateful because what fits me doesn't necessarily fit you, and I recommend against just ordering them online, rather go and try as many as you can.

To clarify, ICON gloves regularly have too long of a thumb for me and they fold in the palm, Oxfords tend to have too narrow fingers, Clover and Spidi last for a season and then they fall apart around the stitches.

I found that Alpinestars tends to have the best fit for my hands (I wear size XXL), and all I have used survived multiple seasons and multiple washes.
Having said all that, the best lightweight glove I've had a chance to use is called REEF. If the styling is a bit too funky for you, look into a glove called COPPER.

Take it with a grain of salt, it is but my personal experience and taste, and good luck!

I concur.

I currently ride with XXL Alpinestars and found it is likely the best or second best glove for daily fit, feel and function.

No salt.

Subject to the wise words above about getting well-fitting gloves, have a look at some of the really light weight vented gloves from Five https://www.five-gloves.com/en/

To the OP’s question, I just picked up a pair of Joe Rocket Phoenix 5 gloves. Some mesh for ventilation but still with some substantial protection.

They are advertised as being touch-sensitive. The index fingers are ok for the phone, if I don’t feel like taking an extra minute to remove them.

Correction, they are called Phoenix 5.1 gloves. More protection than most mesh gloves I've worn, even if the style is a bit more "boy racer" than I prefer. Best price I found was at Chaparral Motorsports.

Gin60: Did you experience any strain in the palm area?

No strain. As expected, they were tight the first few times I wore them, but they broke in a bit after a few rides and are very comfortable.

Good, good.

Don't forget to take a lighter to the loose index finger threads ...
