Matt thanks for the nice photo's, i noticed rnickymouse had not posted any new video's on his youtube channel, the last one was when he hiked to the road ( Mulholland ) and it has been destroyed by fire, looks sad now can you confirm this?

In wintertime it's usually around 15 degrees c, for me not pleasant to ride longer distances so i use the old bike to put put around and generally keep it going without wearing it out.

Wisedrum thanks for the advice, autosol is the medicine of choice and amazingly i do this only once a year and it seems to keep shiny enough for six months in the sun ( as long as you don't look too closely at the little "freckles" )
and also i only do around 12.000 km or so.

I have used Autosol on the exhaust headers of my motorcycles since the mid-60s. I spread the Autosol with an old sock, and then wrap the sock right around the header twice. Pulling the sock around and around and up and down will remove even the most stubborn baked on bugs.

I have found that Ipone and Honda Cleaners and Polishes will also remove dead bugs after the headers have cooled down after a ride. I don't know what they put in Ipone, but I have used it to clean the carbon and grease off the BBQ grease plate.

Last week I clumsily coated both hands with Floquil engine black model steam engine paint. It is a solvent-based paint that is no longer available because of its nasty chemistry. It was date night I did not want to have to explain to the boss how I managed to paint both hands black. I didn't have any paint solvents to remove it, so I grabbed the Ipone and sprayed both hands. To my amazement it removed the paint. Took a couple of washings with hand soap to remove the polish and its funny smell though.

Hopefully lather on some moisturizer to finish. Smile

When Mulholland re-opened the top (the Snake) was open too. I got a few rides in before they closed it again for repair, it's been shut down ever since. It's a shame, though there are plenty of other canyons out here that are less trafficked by idiots and even more fun to ride imo.

Let's see your CB1100 out on the road!

A couple photos from back in July 16 th with my 13, Cb 1100. Colorado trip with a couple good friends from Phila. Stayed in Colorado Springs.
Never really been anywhere west of Kansas City before. What a beautiful State to see on 2 wheels. Started out doing Pikes Peak. , Estes Park and Grand Lake .
wonderful Loveland Pass. Clear Creek Canyon Rd (rt 6 ) ...fabulous riding and great scenery. Cripple Creek and Monarch Pass out across the Curecanti recreation area to South rim of Black Canyon Park.
Then I decided to do a little Solo side trip out a for a few days on San Juan Bi- Way. Started out with a nite stay in Montrose with a great Streak Dinner and a couple frosted Mugs. meet several fellow riders that been out for a week or so Texas and Oklahoma.
Down thru Telluride and Rico.. taking it all in , not once did I turn on the music in my helmet Sena . The sounds, smells and sights of the open road were all the entertainment needed..absolutely awesome.
Continuing thru Delores and onto a great long lunch break cold ice teas...in Durango did a little tourist type stuff and grabbed a little trinket for the wife...pretty cool mountain town and great for rafting and hiking .( do that next time).
Heading back N on 550 just enjoying all the great freedom of the open road. Continue on towards Silverton after just getting dumped on with heavy rain.
Make like a tourist again and stop and regroup and dry off a bit. Nice cup coffee and a light snack. Great little historic town of Silverton. Stopped at the world's highest Harley Davidson Shop and grabbed a cool tee shirt, and another little gift for wife..not sure where I was gonna keep all this on the Cb. After a short little few hours visit, hit road again towards Ouray and " The Million Dollar Hwy.. " Certainly the views and riding were priceless and just taking It nice slow and easy ride along 550 taking it all in....besides a local Trooper keeping an eye out for speeders and couple sections were very treacherous.
Continuing down the road to " Switzerland of Colorado " beautiful Ouray Co. Just a neat colorful old Historic Colorado Town, playground for all who come and visit, all the mountain off road enthusiasts bring the off road buggies.
After taking in all the sights of the road for the day... time to take a nice dinner break at stop the night. Had a nice burger and frosted one at Red Mountain and meet some other really nice couple's that were out with their rigs off roading adventure and another couple with the RV and trikes.
Afterwards did a little strolling around old Mountain Town checking it all out and had a little ice cream. Wonderful mountain views surrounding this Box Canyon town.
Finally after a full day riding, turned in early to my Room after checking out the Box Canyon River that runs right behind the Hotel...very cool indeed.
I decided to just grab coffee and off on the road at about 615 am , had about 350 miles to cover to get back to CO Springs area in time for dinner.
What a great side trip so far. Back up thru Montrose and across Curecanti Rec area back east...to Monarch Summit Shop. decided to have a snack and take the Lift ride to the top of mountain check out the views of Monarch Pass.. very nice.
Some not so lucky fellow rider with his 99 Gold Wing had their back tire blow out right at Monarch Summit...what a drag . They finally got a tow out about 4 hours later. God bless that situation!
Get back on CB and back down toward Salida after about 8 /10 miles stopped into Gas station and pulled off to side for a little stretch and cold drink....To my suprises my freind comes beep his horn and pulls up..yo bro. After a brotherly greetings he asked if I wanted to ride back up to Monarch Summit...sure get some gas and go back up the pass. I waited for him to ride the Gondola to top and back.
Afterwards we headed back towards Salida and Canon City following Rt 50 and along the Arkansas River and back towards CO Springs at around dinner... we went out had a nice dinner.
I can really say is what a great opportunity to be able to do this Great first Road trip for myself on two wheels experience and the Gentlemen and two freinds that traveled with for 2 weeks.
My CB 1100 was a pretty cool platform to experience this on for the first time out..
Awesome riding, beautiful weather and meeting some really nice people along the way... what a blessing. a seat pad and cruiser Kuyakin foot pegs helped a bunch. Certainly just a first and already thinking maybe Arizona in December..
So Many Great Places to Explore!
Enjoy your Journey!
