I could be wrong, but I think it is to keep the snow and ice off them in cold weather.

Most likely correct Nach. I mean, more correct than say bird bombs landing on the bridge deck.

On a serious note: Aren't most traditional covered bridges made of wood and a cover would extend the life of the bridge from the elements?

While I am thinking of it, is it offensive to refer to Australia as Oz? I am thinking I have seen abbreviation somewhere.

Looks like I misread the assignment by one letter - “oN…” versus “oF a bridge…”

I’ll just have to head out on my bike to get it right. Darn it.

Is this what was meant by “cockpit view”?

Good question. I think the man, Cormanus, needs to lean in on the Oz.

Gee, I’m sorry you had to get the bike out MTC. I guess the (small) consolation is that you have May in the bag.

Nachodaddy, I’m not aware of any covered bridges in Australia. Google didn’t help either.

I don’t think anyone is likely to take offense if you refer to Australia as Oz. Not me, anyway.

Not to wander too far off-topic, but a cousin just gave me a wonderful book which has all kind of information on covered bridges. If I find something I think might be fun or informative, I will share it.

Not my CB1100, but the inspiration for this month's challenge. This was my fear-of-heights immersion therapy on my recent vacation ride.

Hey Empty...

9' 0" on that railroad bridge? Wow, sure hope they keep commercial trucks away from that one!
That would be one heck of a can opener.
This isn't a new photo, so I'm not counting it as a submission. This is a snapshot of one of my videos crossing the new 6th Street Bridge in Downtown L.A. that quickly became newsworthy due to all of the shenanigans that took place right when it opened.

In particular, this is the spot of the most infamous event, where a guy in a stolen Dodge Hellcat lost control while doing donuts, hit two cars, then fled on foot.

As you'd normally do on a new bridge, right?
