Tuesday Run
#1

I managed a 200 km ride on Tuesday, north and west to a country town called Kilkivan. Nothing important happens there; it was somewhere to go and I was interested in the ride home via Widgee where I'd not been. It was a much more enjoyable bike trip through there to Gympie than the more northerly route I took to get there.

For Australian readers, or students of modern Australian politics, Kilkivan is on the way to Kingaroy, home the infamous Johannes Bjelke Petersen long-term Premier of Queensland.

As discussed in other threads, it is very, very dry out this way. We need rain. Even riding a clean bike with a camera hanging Ferret-like around my neck didn't do the trick.

There's a map [url=https://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid=201247423130042081552.0004f18efe995617b7d73&msa=0&ll=-26.045062,152.558212&spn=0.553373,1.056747]here. I tried to get the outbound and inbound routes to display in different colours.

Nice pics Cormanus. Looks a wee bit " lonely" out that way (which is how I like it). You can see the brown. Hope you get some rain soon.

Geez hot and dry...almost as bad as cold and damp.... But not quite.

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. Looks like great motorcycling territory.

Substitute the outline of a deer for the kangaroo on the warning signs, move the signs to the right side of the road and you'd think you're somewhere in California!

It's good riding country, although the last stretch of the outward leg from Gympie to Kilkivan was pretty straight. I like a bit of a twist here and there.

I've been struck by the similarity to California in some of the pictures I've seen on this site. Love to visit some day.

You'd all be very welcome. A team ride with the members of this forum would be a hellava lot of fun.

Thanks Ferret. It is a bit lonely out here in the country, but, like you, I like it that way. There's plenty of traffic action around Gympie or further south if I want it.

According to the map it was 197 kms or just over 120 miles.

That's kind. Apparently the camera lies. The tank's black. Smile
