Tuesday Run - Cormanus - 02-06-2014 I managed a 200 km ride on Tuesday, north and west to a country town called Kilkivan. Nothing important happens there; it was somewhere to go and I was interested in the ride home via Widgee where I'd not been. It was a much more enjoyable bike trip through there to Gympie than the more northerly route I took to get there. For Australian readers, or students of modern Australian politics, Kilkivan is on the way to Kingaroy, home the infamous Johannes Bjelke Petersen long-term Premier of Queensland. As discussed in other threads, it is very, very dry out this way. We need rain. Even riding a clean bike with a camera hanging Ferret-like around my neck didn't do the trick. There's a map [url=https://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid=201247423130042081552.0004f18efe995617b7d73&msa=0&ll=-26.045062,152.558212&spn=0.553373,1.056747]here. I tried to get the outbound and inbound routes to display in different colours. The mandatory photos follow: RE: Tuesday Run - the Ferret - 02-06-2014 Nice pics Cormanus. Looks a wee bit " lonely" out that way (which is how I like it). You can see the brown. Hope you get some rain soon. Geez hot and dry...almost as bad as cold and damp.... But not quite. RE: Tuesday Run - redbirds_imp - 02-06-2014 Good pics and beautiful country. Makes me wish I could have rode along.
RE: Tuesday Run - Rick Froscheiser_imp - 02-07-2014 Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing them. RE: Tuesday Run - CA200_imp - 02-07-2014 Great pictures . Looked at the map , how long was the ride? RE: Tuesday Run - Pauley - 02-07-2014 Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. Looks like great motorcycling territory. Substitute the outline of a deer for the kangaroo on the warning signs, move the signs to the right side of the road and you'd think you're somewhere in California! It's good riding country, although the last stretch of the outward leg from Gympie to Kilkivan was pretty straight. I like a bit of a twist here and there. I've been struck by the similarity to California in some of the pictures I've seen on this site. Love to visit some day. (02-06-2014, 11:37 PM)redbirds_imp Wrote: Good pics and beautiful country. It is a bit lonely out here in the country, but, like you, I like it that way. There's plenty of traffic action around Gympie or further south if I want it.
