I really like the Tourmaster Select product... looks made for the CB1100. Price is right too.

qg... I have used tanks bags since the early 70s on nearly every bike nearly every day. In the beginning they were strap on Eclipses or Bagmans. Since they have developed and improved the magnetic bags I no longer use the strap on bags ( my brother still does though). I don't really worry about about scratches and have scratched a couple tanks over the years.I do have some clear 3m on the top of the CBs tank but it was paranoia when I first got the bike and I haven't removed it, even though the rock chips in the front of the tank have made protecting the tank from damage a moot point. The thing is I run lots of miles on my bikes and in the end my bikes have little value due to mileage regardless of conditon, so I don't really worry about the physical appearance of my bikes, the minutia of details if you will. There is dirt on the front of the engine and on the pipes, the rims are dirty, there are bugs all over the front of the bike, the rock chips, there's probably rust up under the rear fender in spots. My bikes will never be mistaken as garage queens.

Whew long story lol. In the end if you are one of those who worry about things like hair line scratches or rock chips or bug guts ypu have to find a way to protect the bike or just not ride it. Honestly most people choose the latter. They would rather have a pristine motorcycle than the sheer joy of just riding the wheels off the thing. It's extremely hard to do both. Can be done but takes more effort than most people are willing to put forth.

The bags that attach to a bracket on the tank filler ring work great but can't be used on the CB. The strap on bags are worse for causing scratches in my experience. They tend to move around a bit and work loose and any grit trapped under the bag can scratch the paint.

Like you stated ferret, best not to worry too much about the little nicks and dings just ride and enjoy.

That's kinda how I view it Chapomis. My bikes are always taken care of, oil changed regularly, chain adjusted and lubed, tire pressures checked, parts replaced when needed, garaged and on battery tenders when not being ridden, never abused or even revved high (neither of my CB's have been past 5,000 rpms in 26,600 miles and probably never will be), but they are not detailed, cleaned or waxed etc as often as some people would to take care of their bikes. Simply put I'd rather ride them than clean them. Not afraid to ride my bikes in sun, rain, snow or on dirt, gravel or salty roads. Everyone has to live with their own wants, needs, likes, and preferences for riding and care. Dings and scratches? If you ride enough, it's going to happen. Not much you can do about it. Why worry about it?

The mechanic that works on my bikes at the Honda shop has 2 motorcycles, 1 of them a Goldwing. He won't take either out on the road if he thinks it's going to rain. Won't do it. He thinks a 200 mile day is a long day. He stops half way thru a ride to clean the bugs off the front of his bike. Certainly his prerogative. 200 miles for me means it's time to stop for lunch, and then get in another 200 before dinner. I don't prefer to take off in a pouring down rain, but if I get caught in rain, no biggie. Part of the game. Bugs? they can join the other on the front of my bike.

Ferret, How do you keep your bags looking so black? Mine were black when I installed them this spring but are now more purple than black. Will shoe dye help? I assume TourMaster would not exchange them but I haven't asked. If I could find the POS material, it might tell me if there is/was a warranty for color fading.
