No there isn't a thread, but many threads.
I ALWAYS do it warm. Contrary to some, IMPO, warm is better. The small items that pass through the filter do re-suspend in the oil and any gunk on the bottom unsticks together allowing it to flow out vs staying stuck to the pan when cold.
For Ferrett, I noticed you have the Omni Cruise too with a foam type grip installed. Did you find it was OK or did you cut back on your grip where the Omni sits? Will it compress over time and prevent the slow slip or should I cut that 1/3" out?

Wasn't me. I run 719 Gel grips and no cruise. I had an omni cruise atone at one time for my ST 1300 which didn't work (it slipped) and I put it on the CB with the intention of trying it out, but ended up taking it off and returning it. That was in 2013.

I had this in my notes - It may have been when I first joined and before I understood the posting syntax correctly. Well whoever - answer if you recognize yourself - lol

You took that photo of that Omni Cruise at the Rally, Ferret. See [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3206&pid=96107#pid96107]here. Question is: whose bike?

I use a polished aluminum Go-Cruise, which works the same as the Omni Cruise. I also have Grab-on foam grip covers. I trimmed the right grip cover slightly, to leave about 1/8" gap between the grip cover and the Go-Cruise. Works great!

Your bike looks great! I like both the rack and the w/s.

Can you possibly post links to suppliers of both items please?

Great job, super write up on the ride results.

G'day Cormanus - Thank you. I may be perma-grey, but I thought I downloaded that from a Ferrett post. I just didn't remember it wasn't actually his. I haven't lost that much memory.

Rack - I chose the design of the 0008 vs the 0063 based on my perceived function and style. The $40 price difference was not a factor.

Theses are the email quotes from Mr T:
"HONDA:Rear Carrier,chrome:CB1100 STD (honda0008)", Yes it fits correctly for the 2013 CB1100.
Unit Price: 19000JPY Shipping: 6020JPY
Total Price: 25,020-JPY / approx $210.

This is the other option available from Mr T:
"Honda Rear Carrier:CB1100/DLX/EX (honda0063)",
this is a new version rack for the CB1100 Deluxe, and it fits for 2013 CB1100 as well.
Unit Price: 23500JPY Shipping: 6020JPY
Total Price: 29,520-JPY / approx $250.

Regarding the ws, I have been working with PUIG for over a year to get this model into the US. It finally came to fruition. I was so impressed in my conversations with them over the span of the past year, I became a dealer (in addition to my regular company duties) - after they offered. They appreciated my patience, attention to detail, and customer value. I plan to allow anyone on the forum to go view the Puig website ([url=http://www.puigusa.com/en/)]http://www.puigusa.com/en/) and get anything there with significant max permissible discounts. Non-US members will probably do better with their local distributors due to s&h. My way of saying thanks and paying it forward to all who have helped everyone on the forum. Send me a PM or use the post www link. BTW, they carry items for all types of bikes, not just the Fabulous CB1100.

Just received final invoicing - Specifically, the 7593 windscreen lists for $140.37usd. If anyone wants one, send me a pm, I can get it drop shipped for 119.31 plus s&h. Depending on destination is apx $15-25 from Atlanta. My s&H to FL was 15.

That is exactly what I planned on doing in the next few days. My delay is in trying to remove the strada grip in order to R&R the omni "rubber band" to the smaller size. Omni sent me an oversize band to place on top of the grip, but there is too much flex in the grip (as intended to prevent vibration transfer) for the Omni to stay taught without over tightening. I'll remove the strada grip (spelled - cut off if necessary) install the smaller band and then reinstall the strada grip after shortening it.

Aside from my Christmas ride, I wanted to do a full field test of my new Puig windscreen. So I grabbed my key, helmet and a windbreaker (although it is really warm) to see how it really performs.

I have been really ________ of those that describe 300-500+ mile days. 30 minutes on the interstate @ 70 is a bit much - and then a return 30 minutes - wow, I ready to call it done.

With my new windscreen, it was a pleasure! I can now see myself doing those long rides too. What a relief. I was second-guessing myself a bit for a while. The width enable just the torso to be wind blocked without destroying the cooling windflow and creating drag. It is a rare win-win. I'll need to do a mpg test before I do the gearing change to keep it to one variable at a time. I'll post the results as soon as I get it concluded.

I'll share just one of the pics I poste don my Christmas day ride. You can go to that thread (http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....pid116828) if you want to see the rest.

Omni Cruise - Good & Bad
#20

As you can see from the images (before & after) during R&R, the grips were not designed to be taken on & off. I don't fault them. The design of the Omni cruise, required multiple uses and mutiple re-tightenings to compress the foam - if one has foam grips installed.

The omni grip has very little in the way on instructions (installation or use), but it WARNS to NOT Overtighten the omni. After too much play and slippage, I finally decided to trim the Strada grip. The omni instructions should have added this significant item/step before initial install of the Omni - more importantly in product description! I did not want to ruin the underlying Honda throttle grip so I removed the Strada and then trimmed the compressed area off the bike. So far so well. During reinstall however the Strada split.

Now the Omni (in real costs) will cost me another $$ to replace the Strada grips. I am not unhappy with the Strada, actually the opposite. I only expected a lifespan of a year or so - not 2 months due to the R&R for the omni. As long as I am replacing them, does anyone have a different recommendation for grips? I did notice Flynrider's grips (Grab-on foam grip covers) for half the price.

I may consider going to the local "store" and measuring the available heavy duty foam insulation and see if anything is appropriate. The thickness may be too much making the total OD too large, but I'll check. I would have many for future use that way.
