Tire Date ?
#1
Hey Guys,

Checking my tires for the date manufactured just now. And inside the tire in the oval it reads 6215. My bike is a 2014 and the last time I checked there is only 52 weeks in a year. Any thoughts ? They are the OEM tires by the way.

THanks,

JF

What brand of tire, Dunlop or Bridgestone? Better double check that date code.

There is nothing to be concerned about, the tire was made in 2015, unless you are noticing some cracking or other physical defects.

If you were doing a track day with a fast super sport bike, no I wouldn't run any tire that old, but for the CB1100 as most riders use it, there will be no compromise to grip or handling at all. Manufacturers say five years shelf life is standard, you are well within that.

That’s strange because my tyre is also 6215. On a Dunlop. Mines a 2013 model don’t think it’s OE. I have asked around and nobody’s got the answer.

If you look 180 degrees from the 6215, you will find the date code, preceded by DOT EUIX on mine.
In the oval: WANM 0814 = 8th week of 2014

For my Dunlops, the EU after DOT indicates plant location
Sumitomo Rubber Industries
City of Toyota
Aichi Prefecture
Japan

Just in case you wanted to know (probably not!)

Yep, there are several codes stamped about the tire, must ensure you are looking at the right one.

6215 is in the oval.
As it is on mine, however it is NOT preceded by DOT and is not the DOT code.
