Whilst looking for information about blocked fuel tank vents i found something i had never seen or heard off before;
then someone else reported a few posts later;
"I saw an MV Agusta at Laguna a few years back with tank sucked in making for a big surprise I'm sure when the person was ready to take off. :thinking"
Apparently the bike had been sitting in the sun, the pressure had been vented from the tank and when it cooled off the air could not get back into the tank because of a fault, the mv i'm not sure about since i have no proof but the Suzuki tank looks for real.

The breather line can sometimes get pinched when the tank is re-installed after servicing, if not careful. I've heard of a couple imploded tanks, including one that happened while being ridden. All happened to be black tanks.

When I put a UK tank on my 94 CB 1000 I also had to put the UK type gas cap on it . The USA gas gap would not allow air to enter tru the gas gap. The bike run ok for a short while but than the vacuum in the tank just made the bike stall. When opening the gas tank you could hear the air rush in.

Was the OP's issue(s) resolved?
Other than the IACV issue, there have been few actual mechanical/technical issues for the CB1100

In the old days, before fuel pumps, a plugged tank vent would just kill the engine from fuel starvation. With a high pressure pump, the metal of the tank becomes the weakest link.
I saw this happen to an aircraft fuel tank once. Crumpled the top skin of the wing before the pilot could get it on the ground.
