Hi- I have gotten a new '14 CB1100. Not the deluxe model. Apparently these bikes aren't popular here in the mid west, cause the dealer marked the bike down to $7,900 back in January, and was still sitting there when I went to check in July- so I had to buy it.
I'd like to get spoke wheels- mine has the cast wheels. I know I can just go to dealer and pay a ton of money for the wheels they put on the deluxe model, but... I'd like to go with a larger diameter front wheel. The rear wheel diameter is ok, but I'd like to go to a slightly larger tire in back.
I have no good reason for doing this- it's only to suit my tastes. I know that changing wheel size from Honda's design will probably degrade performance or handling or both. I know I shouldn't do it. But I want to. I'm 60 now and I figure this is my last bike. So I want to get it how I like it.
Having said all that, does anyone know of an after market source for spoke wheels to fit the CB1100? I know it's along shot that any supplier has designed anything that will work with stock brake calipers- and I know that the present mounting location of the front fender will be a problem too- but what the hey- one of you might just know of the exact thing I'm looking for.
And since I have your attention, can anyone suggest good detachable luggage with attachment racks? thanks

Howdy and welcome to the forum. We had 1 member that went with spoke wheels and if I remember correctly it was quite the process. sO eone with more knowledge than I will no doubt be along shortly. In the meantime, enjoy the bike as is.

First the Dlx came with cast wheels as well. Only the EX that was sold in Europe and Japan got the spoke wheels and they require tube type tires.
One of our members did the swap and it required changing the rear caliper as well due to the placement being different with the different rims. As far as I know the front calipers are mounted in the same location, but the rotors are specific to the spoke wheels so 3 new rotors are in order as well.
If my memory serves me I want to say that for everything the cost for parts including tires and tubes was somewhere between $2500 and $3000 when all was said and done, but could be off on the figure and it could be cheaper now anyway due to the exchange rate with Japan being more favorable for us as of late.

As of right now this is the cost of his kit which has everything but the rear caliper. $2040.82

Thanks for the info. It's good to know I can do it- even if it costs a fortune. I'm going down right now to buy the lottery ticket.

By the way- I just got my Corbin seat! When I bought the bike I knew I had to have faith that there was a seat solution out there- cause I could only go about 40 miles before things started to hurt (why can't the Japanese make a comfortable seat? They're geniuses at everything else)- Well, the difference this Corbin seat makes is just amazing. Better seating position, more leg room and no more pain. Thanks Corbin!
