I have an OEM Honda rack on mine. Going rusty as well . The chrome plating on these bikes is really rubbish. i have already had the front fork tubes rechromed as the original chrome almost wore off. The hardchromers said that there was only about a 4 micron thickness on them.

I have the Honda oem rack and I love the looks of the 14 rack. I have a Cortech soft bag. Doesn't lock and that would be a nice feature.

That's weird Tezza. I have had my OEM rack out in all sorts of weather for nearly four years and it is as good as new. Forks OK as well.

Cheers

Yes, 6/10 build. I have owned it since Feb '12 when I bought it new. The rack was thrown in as a "sweetener".

Cheers
I have never covered the bike, apart from a cotton sheet to keep dust off. I live close to the sea (1km) but the bike is garaged. It has had a lot of use with the rack on in all weather conditions with many days and nights out in the open unprotected. It is showing its age but from road grime and tar and a lot of gravel road. Nothing that I would put down to anything but hard use. The Honda chrome, in all areas, is good. The Staintune has lost its brand new look from removing baked on mud and tar but is still in good nick.

Cheers

I fitted a H&B rack to my 14EX a while back and it lined up fine.
I used it with a large H&B Top Box, the biggest Trad. Ali. one. Worked fine and took everything I threw at it.

I didn't see instructions in how to section. Anyone have them?

It wasn't too hard to figure out how it attached. As others have said: Finger-tight first then tighten equally. I commute on my bike, so I've used the rack almost every day. With a bungee net, it carries a laptop bag or a small backpack nicely. I think it looks like it "fits" the bike. It's not visually obtrusive and maintains a nice symmetry with the line of the exhaust, if that kind of thing is important to you.

They don't have instructions (at least mine didn't) when they are new. They do fit well and are quite beefy. I installed a Saddlemen Adventure Rear Rack Bag. Moose Racing makes a similar bag for about $30 less. Both the Saddlemen and the Moose can be locked onto the rack.

You can download the pdf instructions online easy enough though or use the nice write up in the "how to" section here.
