I'm on my 3rd set of BT45s on the CB750 and they're a great blend of stickiness and longevity. I typically get over 10K miles from a set.

I guess I'm out of the loop but what happened to the PR3's? Thought they were all the rave and was thinking about getting them when I got the tires done.

Rumor started last month that the PR3 were being discontinued by Michelin. Member Bflint called Michelin and they confirmed it. See this post :

Looks like you can still get some from warehouse stock, but they'll be gone soon.

I won't be due for new tires for several months, so I'm exploring alternatives. The PR3s have worked unbelievably well on my CB11. I'd definitely go with them again if available.

I just ordered a 160 wide PR3 for the rear and a 120 wide PR4 for the front. There are plenty of rears available for now.

I am going to finish the year out on my stock tires. I think that they're the battleaxe 45s, but foolishly I've never actually looked. What came stock on the 2014s? I had those on my '02 750 Nighthawk. I was quite happy with them.

I have a fun and somewhat twisty 45 km commute to work but it chipseal and a bit bumpy in spots. I ride pretty hard and I think it is taking its toll on the rear. Only 5500 km in and it is looking a bit flat.

I see some folks have put on slightly larger tires - 120 over 110s on front and 160 over 140 rear. Is it a challenge to get the dealership to put them on since you're not the original size? I am still under warranty.

The first time I wanted larger size tires, the dealer balked. Since then (1972), I have simply brought in the wheel and never have had my request questioned. And, as a bonus, it is quicker and cheaper than bringing the entire bike. the tire replacement often 'While U Wait'.

I tried to get PR3's before our ride down to Victoria but they were no longer available then. The BT45's are wearing really well and will probably get 12-15 thousand k on them.

I bought Metzelers a couple months ago while they were on sale. Still have not had them mounted but I am not riding much, either.

The stock Bridgestones are BT54 radials. I didn't care for them. The front had very little tread depth and wore out quickly. Not nearly as good (IMHO) as the BT45 bias tires.

I also use the BT45 tires on my '93 Nighthawk and they're great (I'm on my 3rd set). I managed to get one more set of PR3 tires for my CB11 before they disappeared, so I've got time to consider what comes next. The BT45s are high on my list.
