Jesse from Vectolabs, makers of Vololights here. You bring up a great point on the legality of flashing brake lights. We incorporated this issue into the product with the ability to switch Vololights into a Stealth Mode. This does away with flashing but still gives an early indication solid light once our first deceleration threshold is reached.
In this way, riders can still get the benefits of indicating a downshift or engine brake, while abiding by a flashing law. What's interesting is many state motorcycle handbooks recommend flashing brake lights for certain riding maneuvers (including downshifts), while having automatic flashing barred in the same jurisdictions. Still scratching our heads there.

I actually ride a custom Road King, although, you'll be happy to know we modeled the motorcycle in our instruction guide on the CB1100.

Aloha,

Huladog, if we had a bracket that allowed for 1/2 - 3/4" of travel up or down would it help you out?
