EX seat removal

The latch seems to be different than my '14 1100 standard,how do you remove the seat on my 1100 EX?

The '17 service manual instructions say to simply unlock the seat using the ignition key and pull the seat backward to remove it. But mine doesn't come off unless I turn the key all the way and hold the key in that position (using left hand), and then use right hand to pull seat backward.

If I don't hold the key turned fully to its clockwise position, the key "settles" back counterclockwise, closing the release mechanism and the seat will not budge. I'm not sure if that's the way EX seats are supposed to operate, but I remember it took me awhile to figure that out.
