Supposedly there is a inflatable vest that riders can wear.. It's tethered to your bike so if you become separated it auto inflates...

I thought this post was gonna be about that.

While part of me admires the ingenuity of it. I'm pretty sure I'd accidentally inflate it at a gas stop..

Dainese makes one with a wireless accelerometer-based detection system (and it costs a fortune). There is a guy I work with who wears one on his scooter -- it's the definition of overkill, but I aplaud his eye toward safety.

Next to a helmet, best safety device there is.
