Better than an Airbag ? - Chapomis_imp - 05-04-2016 Just caught this while waiting for my truck to get serviced, thought I would share. (Sorry moderators, but there is a mattress involved) http://mashable.com/2016/05/03/motorcycle-crash-mattress/#jO4Bx6z9Vmql RE: Better than an Airbag ? - Randy B - 05-04-2016 RE: Better than an Airbag ? - the Ferret - 05-04-2016 it's ok as long as a motorcycle is involved as well...and it does! RE: Better than an Airbag ? - Cormanus - 05-04-2016 No mattresses were harmed in the making of the video, so it should be OK. RE: Better than an Airbag ? - Hondahawkrider_imp - 05-04-2016 Lol Supposedly there is a inflatable vest that riders can wear.. It's tethered to your bike so if you become separated it auto inflates... I thought this post was gonna be about that. While part of me admires the ingenuity of it. I'm pretty sure I'd accidentally inflate it at a gas stop.. There is a guy I work with who wears one on his scooter -- it's the definition of overkill, but I aplaud his eye toward safety. RE: Better than an Airbag ? - Chapomis_imp - 05-05-2016 Forum member Rebel swears by them. RE: Better than an Airbag ? - flynrider - 05-05-2016 I guess if you have to crash into something, a soft, comfy mattress is probably high on the list of preferred objects. ![]() Why do people think something propped over the cab of a truck is going to stay there at road speeds without being tied down? You don't need an aerodynamics degree to imagine what strong breeze is going to do to an object that's angled into the wind. A couple of years ago I was riding down the interstate at about 70 mph, passing a truck with a long couch sticking up over the cab. It wasn't til I got right next to him that I realized that the couch wasn't tied down. I noticed this about the time the couch lifted off the cab and flew in my direction. I'm not sure how close it came because my head was planted on the gauges, but I could see the pattern of the fabric quite clearly out of the corner of my eye.

It requires the kind of force that would knock you off your bike. I know because I have one and have tugged on it more than once by accident. When I did need it, it saved my tush up in the canyons once. Awesome. RE: Better than an Airbag ? - Roper_imp - 05-11-2016 I'm wondering why the motorcyclist was riding so far over on the edge of the road. There seems to be a lot of debris there. Plus that upcoming sign. |
