one tank ride in southern Wisconsin
#1

Monday here was a great day for a ride. sorry not many pictures.
By 10: upper 60s and sunny and would not get above low 70s all day.
(yes I am trying to rub it in for all the people in the southwest)
The goal was to ride to Belmont Wi. and only ride on county roads.
Our county roads all are letters - A , D etc..
So leave the city on "D and ride to Belleville then to CC to C which go's to Monticello. Then stay on C heading to Argyle. The roads get
much more rolling and most don't have many shoulders as you go west. The more west we go we have to avoid more horse droppings
in the middle of the road. My wife reminds me that it is Monday and
the Amish travel on Sunday. Then G out of Argyle to Belmont.
Great ride! Lunch at the Belmont truck stop and pick up some Amish
candy for later. Now try to make back to the city on this tank of fuel.
North to Spring Green then home. Made it 173.5 miles and 3.048
gl. of gas. so almost 57mpg. My wife got 90mpg. Well at least she
didn't get 100mpg like the last rideDodgy

Nice day for a ride. I did a short ride yesterday morning before the heat and humidity got uncomfortable. It's supposed to hit 98 here by afternoon and the humidity is high also. By July my riding season is early mornings only until mid September.

Went to college at Platteville, found memories of Friday night fish fry's served family style in Belmont. When I was there Hwy 151 was still only 2 lane for most of the stretch past Verona, so even that was a great driving road, but the county letter roads are even better. The real finds are the system of "Rustic Road's" we have here in WI, great little roads. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/scenic/maps.htm

Sounds like a great ride and great gas mileage. Thanks for sharing. Smile

Spring Green will be our "base camp" for some riding in this same area in July. Some great roads around there for sure.

@johnnevets. +1 on the Rustic Roads. I keep the map in my bag whenever I'm wandering around Wisconsin.

Well, if you are riding around WI for the next few months, and happen to be on one of the Rustic Roads, you might want to pull out your camera. I was made aware there is a little contest going on celebrating there 40th anniversary. The prizes just seems to be a plaque, but it would still be cool to have your picture selected. Also there is a category for vehicles on the roads.
