Side and Roll Bags - SMALL
#1

I am looking for feedback on a SMALL bag to hold odds and ends like a handlebar or a fork bag. This would be for occasional use.

I've been considering a leg bag, I might go that route but I would rather have it strapped to the bike and not my leg.

I saw this bag which is a bit too big and a mess but I was thinking that spot might work if the bag was small enough to have my leg bumping it all that time. Obviously that side cover would need to have a rest in the garage to make it work.

Also considering a small roll bag to strap on the seat.

I have a tank bag for my RT but I need to keep tank clean on the CB.

Thanks for whatever advise you might have.

HW

This might be bigger than you want, bit it is very practical. I have a Nelson-Rigg CL-903 Expandable bag that I strap on the back of the seat. It folds down very flat. I may use it on the Honda rack I bought this winter to clear the seat.

I have a second one that I use as a tank bag. It has a clear map holder on top. Folds down nicely, but will hold my gloves and helmet when I stop for food. Out of sight, out of mind. It also has a small pouch on the back that hold my ear plugs. I use magnetic straps for it so it can be folded back for re-fueling.

When expanded it can hold a lot of gear or groceries as shown here on my CB500XA.

You might look at the Harper Chase barrel bag , I use them for tire kit and some tools.

THANKS! that might just be the ticket. Do you strap it to the seat or have two of them as "saddlebags"?

It just depends on what you like. Personally I like a multi purpose back pack. I have attached a picture of one that is available on EBay, including shipping from China for $35. Sadly most stuff nowadays is made in China. This particular back pack also has straps for carrying your helmet, and a carry handle. Lets face it, if you get off your bike, are you going to walk away from your bike with your stuff in a bag that is strapped to the bike? Unless I am on a road trip that requires bags strapped on the bike, a streamlined multi purpose backpack that I can use on or off my bike is what suits me best.

I went to a local army surplus store and wandered until I found a small inexpensive pack that I strapped to the bike for odds and ends, less than$20. Might also check canoe/kayak shops.
