changes between different years

A new member here - I tried a search but....

I've just bought a 2012 CB1100 from Japan (I live in Vietnam), and want to buy some luggage (back box and rack with sissy bars). The problem is that most accessories say "2013-2014" model year. I realise this might be because that was the time the bike entered England and the US etc.

My question is, are the mounting points on the 2010/2011/2012 bikes the same as those on the 2013/2014 - i.e. will the same luggage fit?

As a follow up, I notice the mighty Givi 50 odd litre back box holds - wait for it - 4kg. Since I'm hoping to use it for more than my toothbrush, I wondered whether anyone knew of the above with at least 10kg max (or if not 8kg).

Hello simplest2remember! Welcome to the forum! I wish I could help you with your question but I don't know the answer. Hopefully, one of our Aussie friends will be along and offer some guidance.

From what I've read regarding the rear carriers, you'll be fine with your toothbrush and half a tube of toothpaste. If you brush your teeth every other day, you should be able to enjoy a week-long outing without problems!

Welcome to the forum. I think that the model goes from 2010 to 2013, if you look at samurider website Mr T there can tell you what fits and what doesn't.

Are the universal givi mountain plates _really_ universal - i.e. would one fit the above rack does anyone know? (not that I'm a givi fanboy, but givi is made in Vietnam so I may be able to wangle a deal...)

I'm pretty sure Gossman's right about the model going from 2010-2013, it only in Japan have they had them all. Australia got 2010 and 2011 but no 2012 or 2013. I know of one 2012 in New Zealand. The U.S. And Europe got 2013 and 2014. I think that means that Mr T is the only person likely to know what fits what.

A couple of days ago there was a discussion about GIVI mounting plates. There's a universal one that it was thought would fit pretty much anything. There are even some pictures. Try the search function. When I'm near a computer on a little while I'll see if I can find it and update this post.
