Need an answer on rear blinker function

I noticed this AM as I was getting ready for my commute that the CB1100 rear blinkers weren't constantly on like the front ones. By that I mean the rear turn indicators work when I activate them but they aren't on like running lights. Whereas the front ones are on all the time and will blink when I need them to. Is this normal?

Rear brake light works fine...on all the time...and when brake activated gets brighter

That is normal operation. There is a kit, I bought, to change the rear turn indicators to running lights and blinkers. Unfortunately they will not fit the stock indicators.

Thanks Retsel. I never noticed it before this AM. I do know my XR rear lights are on all the time but somebody put a rear blinker kit on it that changed the color from orange to red so maybe they also changed them to run all the time.

I put a kit in mine- but I have the larger '13 blinkers on my '14.

So they look normal orange when off, light up red when the bike is on, and brighter red when braking.

Still blink orange.

The kit was not 'plug and play- required modification of the internals to fit, and taping into wires- still well worth the work involved.

I have the same kit on my ZRX- and that required no modification to the blinkers.

That would be part of a street legal rear running light kit. DOT and most state regulations do not allow for solid lights on the rear in any color besides red (excluding white back up lights of course).
