My '14 standard 'buzzes' in the bars (stock grips / stock weights) at around 3900 - 4xxx (forget, it's winter here) with a annoying vibration. I pulled the stock weights and assembly complete out to learn what was in there. The weights inside the bar aren't that heavy and it appears to me that changing this to a denser material would be worth trying. I also thought about using lead shot inside the bars...

I don't ride fast or in high RPM's most of the time. So just loping along at the posted speed limits (two-lane highways, so 50-60 mph) I get irritated at the buzziness of the bars. It sounds like the CB500F internals and weights would fit the stock bars. I don't want a more forward lean, so I'd not be interested in the CB500F bars, just the weights.

If anyone knows for certain this will work - I'll go buy the pieces. Or try the 1 lb bar weights (where do you find these?)

Also intend to change out the stock grips, they're marginal at best.

This might be too much work to take a stab at, but as a freebie,
I would try to tighten down further handlebar clamps, (part #22). It could be that the rubber cushions (#15) aren't mated tight enough...

or

double up on the rubber pads for additional damping. (part #15 @ $4/ea)

I'm using ultra low bar renthals and I did notice more vibration than oem handlebars in the beginning, now I'm used to it. Grip puppies surely help too.

If I get another CB, I'll flip those risers around to get the bars a tad further forward, along with a switch to the Type II.

That riser trick works pretty well to get a touch more weight on the front end. Pretty sporty.

I think those suckers are actually plastic, but it's been a while since I took the bars off. I do remember however, looking at them pretty closely, thinking that rubber would work better (especially if it was thicker) and wound up ruling that out with the stock bolts.

Maybe I'll just take the bars off, dip the open ends in melted lead, and reassemble. There's got to be something that actually dampens the vibes.
