Good day all, due to recent pandemic lockdown, i haven't been to any ride further than 30km. Yesterday i went for a short 25km high rev (1st 2km below 3k rpm, after that 4k-7k rpm) warm up ride. My CB exhaust have lots of "mellow" popping sound when throttle off this time when compare to running long distance high rev. Its not loud and sound nice. Just wondering why i can't get it when i rode more than 50km. And will these popping hurt the CB? I kind of like it. Exhaust is aftermarket but comform to environment act.

Is the aftermarket exhaust a full system or a slip-on? Check the connections. Decel popping is caused by unburnt fuel detonating in the exhaust. This can happen when there's an air leak. When outside air enters the exhaust, it's like blowing on a hot coal--it will ignite. When you ride for longer, perhaps the hot metal has expanded enough to seal the leak. On shorter rides, there's still enough of a gap for air to get in. Check all the joins. There are many online tutorials for sealing gaps in exhaust systems. Gorilla Glue is not recommended!
