4 to 1 pipes & looks,
I am a little torn. I really like symmetry and a bike looks empty on the side without pipes. But the other side usually makes up for that. On a little different note, loud exhaust can be very annoying. The 550 Four I had back in the day had the bologna pipes 2 into 1. After a little while on the road at a constant speed that roar was rather tiring. My wife likes how quiet the stock CB exhaust is. She must have thought the only exhaust was loud. Our garage door is under our bedroom and when I leave out it does not bother her. Some of our neighbors seem to think they are the only ones that can hear theirs, or maybe they think we all want to enjoy. Not just bikes either! Sorry for going on and on, I do know any short stories.

I know performance is better with four into one, but a true classic is those four beautiful tulip pipes out the back. Also I wish they would have went Chrome instead of stainless on the header pipe.

So I got a thumbs up today at a stop-light and I started thinking about how few "nice bike" comments Katie has gotten since I started riding her around town...
then I remembered that most of my rides so far have been after work, after dark. We need to get out in the sunshine.

I rode with a couple friends (one on a Ducati Diavel Carbon) to The Vanilla Bean in CT, a restaurant popular with bikers. Bikes all around: Harleys, Ducatis, Triumphs, an MV Augusta, BMWs, metric cruisers, Japanese sportbikes.
And a small crowd around my CB1100! |
