Cozy Seat and Tandem Grip
#1

I ordered these from Webike-Japan while the bike was gone to Bazzaz, and they arrived (very quickly!) last week.

The Cozy Seat sits a little higher (1/2--3/4") in front, and about 1" taller in the back than the stock seat. The vinyl is more shiny than the OEM seat.

Like I said in the Bazzaz thread, we're currently 103f, and tomorrow's supposed to be 108f. Hopefully I can have a ride report on the fueling, and the new seat by Sunday.

I liked the look of the seat and bar in Obliviontoad's thread here: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=297

Ride safe all!!

Thumper,

That seat looks good. I like that grab bar too. But I must be the only guy who likes the stock seat and Honda rackRolleyes

I was just in San Diego. Man, it was NOWHERE near 108f. Was really nice bike riding weather and there were a lot of people riding around. And naturally I get home and Andrea has been raining on us so I can't ride Sad

Okay, just got back from a morning breakfast ride--and my butt is planted inside for the rest of the day as it's already 99f @ 10:00 am--on its way to a high of 108f!! Big Grin

I like the seat. I'm 5'9" 195, and gifted with the healthy knees of a 90 yr-old (read: my knees suck). Anything I can do to relieve the bend in my knees makes my day much more enjoyable. Yeah, my knees hate when I'm teaching all day on the CBR1000RR--but hey, that's why I keep my Motrin in a Pez dispenser, and eat 'em like candy!!

The seat feels maybe 1/2" or so taller than the stock seat, but more importantly, because it's much flatter, I can move around on the seat quite a bit more, without feeling like I'm sitting on the step between the pilot & passenger section (which I would sometimes do on the OEM seat). The Cozy Seat doesn't have a radically different feel, meaning I don't feel like I'm sitting on top of the bike--it still feels similar to the rider triangle produced by the OEM. It's a shiny vinyl--it looks like I just cleaned it with Armor-all. Not bad, just different from the duller finish of the stock seat (which I like better).

The bottom of the seat is very well made, molded heavy-duty plastic, and it fits just like the OEM. There are four rubber bumpers that I had to remove from the bottom of the OEM, to transfer to the bottom of the Cozy Seat (the two rectangular ones at the front, and two small round ones at the middle. There is not a document holder molded into the plastic, but the stowage bin above the battery is sufficiently large for that.

I've seen pictures of the Cozy Seat with and w/o the grab bar, and I bought it just to complete the vintage look I was seeking. I like the height of the bar in relation to the rear of the Cozy Seat--and I think the two together really complete the 80's look. In my opinion, the bar doesn't look good with the OEM seat, as it sits about an inch or more taller than the rear of that seat. The bar is very sturdy, and installs in minutes, by unscrewing the four 6mm bungee bolts, and mounting the grab bar between the OEM brushed aluminum rails and the black frame rails.

These are the exact items I ordered from Webike Japan:

Item(1)
DAYTONA COZY (COZY seat) seat 70'S Series
TypeK0 Lowdown
Item number[74923] HONDA CB1100 K0
price (without tax) \43,904 * 1 = \43,904

Item(2)
HURRICANE Tandem grip Color : Chromeplating
Material : Steel
Bolt on
Item number[HA6489C] HONDA CB1100 (SC65)
price (without tax) \8,800 * 1 = \8,800

Thumper,

Any chance you could snap a photo of the seat in a straight-on side profile shot so I can get a better idea of the contour/shape of the seat?

It would be much appreciated.

EDIT: I took a look at the brochure Obliviontoad posted and there's a pretty good profile shot of the seat in there, so no need to take the side photo if you don't want to.

Can you comment on the firmness of the foam on the Cozy compared to stock?

Okay, I've measured again, and it appears both saddles are about the same height at the pilot's position. Note: the pictures were taken with the bike on the centerstand, so the yardstick doesn't show true height of the seats.

But, because the Cozy Seat is much broader across the saddle, it feels taller. The foam is firmer than the stock seat. The step from the pilot's section to the passenger section is less "dramatic" on the new seat (if that makes sense).

Scoobynut--let me know if you want a different photo from these three.

Thumper,

Thanks a bunch for taking the time for the photos. To tell the truth, the shot from above told me as much as the side shots. The Cozy seems much wider than stock, which I think would have to give greater under-thigh support -- the main reason I always get along better with aftermarket seats than stock seats. Well done, thanks!
