MRA VarioScreen (model VNB)
#1

Haven't ridden with it yet, but here is my CB with an MRA VarioScreen model VNB installed. Snowed last night here, so just garage pics - sorry. Shown with the upper screen adjusted at its highest. I will give a highway report ASAP, supposed to be nice the rest of this week, but what do the weather forecasters know, eh? Really liked the MRA Vario Touring screen (the shorter type with the height and angle adjustable 'wing') but at its highest the wind (and grasshoppers!) would hit me in the face shield of my helmet at eye level.

It can be lowered down approximately 2 inches which would just about make it as short as the Vario Touring. Adjustment is made with 2 'no tools needed' fasteners on the back of the screen. Must be at a stop to make the adjustment.

The MRA Vario Touring looks like this:

That is a great idea for a screen.

If you could, please measure vertically from the ign swith to the top of the screen lowered and to the top of the screen raised.

Approx 16 1/2 inches at highest, 14 1/2 inches at lowest (from the switch, as requested). Editing my original post to reflect this measurement, thanks.

I have the MRA Vario Touring clear shield on my CB1100 for about 4 months. It work pretty good, but I am going to get a bigger National DX for longer rides.

Only rode for about 30 minutes before storm front turned weather cold and windy, but the taller screen pushed up the stream over my helmet. Will post again after a longer highway speed ride.

Final review on this model of MRA windshield:

I like it a lot, but it's only a little better at speeds around and over 70mph. 60mph and under are very good, but they were fine using the MRA Vario Touring (the shorter one with the adjustable 'wing') too. I'd give both a C+/B- at 70mph and above, and a solid B at 60mph and below.

I'll be selling this one (at a significant discount) only because the Vario Touring is older and a bit scratched up. I'll probably first try locally on Craigslist unless somebody here wants to pony up for shipping. Say $120 plus shipping? PM me if interested, thanks.

My search continues for a relatively easy to install/uninstall touring shield for extended trips that will give me excellent highway and interstate protection without being too fugly.

Cheers!

Not sure about the fugly factor, but I've been using the NC Plexistar for long road trips and winter riding. Excellent coverage all the way out to your hands. After initial install, it goes on and off in 2 min.

That tall shield is on the 'short list' for certain - thanks. Ouch - rubber side down, eh?

Sold the VNB today, installed the Plexistar 2 on Sunday. Seemed great on the short ride I took, not as good as a ride on my ST1100, but hey, the CB is a naked bike, eh?
