Horn Relocation
#21

Definitely describes the different schools of thought here on the forum.

1. - I'd like to hide my horns so they don't stand out as much.

2. - I want to add chrome to my horn so it stands out more.

Hahahaha! Mark me down for option 1! Then again, I have never been a fan of chrome.

After much contemplation about where to mount my Stebel on my CB1100, I decided I would benefit from separating the compressor and horn sections. Let's just say that the kind folks at Stebel, NEVER want this horn to come apart. There is an abundance of naval-grade permanent adhesive holding the plastic horn section to the compressor. DA*N IT!!! I separated them, but I now have either an involved project at repairing the air chamber of the horn section, or I have a large paperweight to fondly reflect upon. Will post pics if I'm successful with the repair and mount...

I reckon you already down the road with plan A.

There is a split version that might have worked. I'm thinkin of doing this at some point.

Can you show a picture of it?

thx!

As I have said one of the first mods I did on the Bonnie was to move the horn under the tank. Really cleans up the front. My lovely CB has TWO VERY PROMINENT horns on the front that MUST be moved. Where did they go mjveille?

I hated the look of the cheap stock horns on the front of the CB (especially if I hat on the Comet fairing and then just peaked out under it). SO I moved them under the tank (inspired by my '67 CB450). They tucked in there great with just a simple bracket I had to make (from the stock tail light and plate assembly). I simply used the bolt that mounts the oil cooler and it holds it in there great... works well, they still point forward, sounds the same, and now they're hidden!
