This may already be old news, but out at MotoGP, Yama-buzz is their new 20yr/200k mile engine warranty on all new Street And Cruiser Motorcycles:

From their site, the warranty's transferrable to the next owner, but the catch is you have to buy Yamalube oil and filter.

All these warranties have limitations. Most likely will cover internal engine and transmission damage since it is a lubricant promotion. May sell a lot of Yamahas.
You'll notice that I did not use the "O" word.

Probably a good moneymaker for Yamaha. I'd be curious what they actually cover as warranty and what is excluded as 'abuse' or 'normal wear and tear.' I could see wearing out the dogs on second gear, or needing a rebuilt head sometime in the 100k miles, but the guts of most modern engines are pretty bomb-proof these days. Lots of other oil makers outside of the bike world will offer engine warranties for exclusive use of their products (Penzoil for example gives you 15 years or 800,000kms if you use solely their synthetic oil) and I've never heard of anyone 'cashing in' on them.

I wouldn't buy a Yamaha just because of this but would sure take advantage of signing up if I did. I've been partial to OEM oils for many years, filters too. Yamalube has a good reputation, Honda, BMW, etcetera. BMW has a new oil, Advantec, made from natural gas. Eliminates virtually all impurities from the base stocks but a little more expensive.
