Indian Demo Day
#1
I got to ride a couple new Indian bikes yesterday. First I rode the Challenger, their water cooled bagger, and then the FTR.
My thoughts, if you're interested:
I'm not a tall fellow, and the forward (foot) controls on the Challenger were placed for longer legged folk. It was very comfortable otherwise and had plenty of power. While the bike has dual disk Brembos out front, I was not impressed with their bite or power. Another rider had the same comment. I didn't use the rear brake much so I can't comment on that. I recently tried out the new Goldwing, and I have to say that while riding the Challenger I was contrasting it with that experience. In terms of refinement, the sensation of quality, and handling, I was thinking, "This ain't no Goldwing." (I know, why is my internal grammar so poor?)
Now, the FTR... you all want to get on one of those, IMO. Put it in Sport mode too. For the kind of riding I use my CB1100 for, it would be a great, tire-lifting option. It has a small tank, and you'll have a hard time wanting to get the best mileage out of it. The hooligan came out in me. Pretty too.

good report Scotty. I actually had a chance to ride the FTR and turned it down last year. Circumstances. Under different circumstances I would be happy to test ride one.

I've ridden the Indian lineup on a couple of demo days, all except the big (BIG) Roadmaster. It's hard for the short-of-leg to retrieve the kickstand on all of them. Haven't ridden the FTR. Of the others, I preferred the Scout. But I thought all of them were somewhat lacking in refinement for sure. Weird things like thermo-formed plastic covers over exposed wiring and you could still see the wiring.

Yeah. Sadly in the year 2021 (21st century in general) there is no excuse for exposed wiring.

Even the CB1100 had that issue, which I tried to address.

Yeah. It's like they still think these are snowmobiles with wheels.
