How cold will you ride?
#31
With my Honda heated grips, and my old Widder heated vest, I see myself riding into the 20's here in Wisconsin.
However.
When the white stuff hits, it goes to the basement.
White stuff is either snow or salt.
Wisconsin uses millions and millions of pounds of salt
It is evil

When we used to live in Upstate NY I always kept one of my bikes ready to ride during the long winters. The other ones I winterised.I had no heated gear or windshield but if it was over 32 degree I went for a ride of about 50 miles.I had layers of clothing on and very good winter gloves but by the time I had all of this on I was sweating like a pig and looked like the Michelin man! Although our garage never got below 40 degrees I always put a 1500 watt electric heater with blower under neat the engine for about an hour before my ride. This was so much better for the engine. Hot oil and the engine always started first time because the gas ignited perfectly. 20 cents of electric saved wear on engines.
Living now in NC I do no longer winterize my bikes, there are many days I can go for a ride during most winters, especially going to South Carolina. This was one of the main reasons that we moved south ,to be able to ride my bikes the whole year round.
