CB11 at the location of Easy Rider's Final Scene.
#1
Jamboa and I took a lil road trip Saturday. Along the Atchafalaya River on Louisiana Hwy 105 North Of Krotz Springs. There is no Proper marker or sign for this "Iconic" location. However, after speaking to the locals we were able to pin point the small gravel gated driveway against the levee...

Not much risk of your being shot by a local on that bike wearing that outfit!

I saw Easy Rider on one of the cable channels a while back. It is not a movie that has "aged well." Then again, maybe it's me who hasn't aged well...

The thing that makes Easy Rider interesting to me is that while it advocated the counter-culture of the day, it made a boatload of money for a lot people. The budget was absurdly small, but it was a huge hit and made millions at the boxoffice. Hollywood, of course, took notice and proceeded to produce an endless string of truly awful knockoffs.

I've seen both bikes, although the "Billy Bike" was probably a replica. They've aged about as well as the movie...silly looking POSes that couldnt ride their way across town, let alone cross- country, without a support truck and chiropractic following behind.

And some people think the 3.9 gal fuel tank and barely adjustable suspension of the CB are bad.... Try a rigid rear end and a 2 1/2 gal peanut tank on a steep angle full of money stuffed in a tube. Lol

The original Capt. America bikes were either wrecked R stolen so no U did not see the original.
Could not agree with you more. Also the riding shots were done at about 30 miles an hour from angles that made them look like they were going much faster. I think I learned about that from the special features on the DVD.
The locals said it was a local who died recently who pulled the trigger! Dont think I believe that!

Two of each bike were built. Over the years, only one original bike has been identified as genuine, and it was one of the Capt. America bikes. The other three were stolen, but the C.A. bike that was destroyed in the movie was restored and displayed.

Of course there's no way I could confirm or deny if the bikes I saw were real or not, but the claim was (at a show in Daytona in the late 90's or early 2000's) that the C.A. bike was real.
