Can anybody please comment on passenger comfort? My wife refuses to go on any rides longer than 200 miles with my VFR800, and I'm wondering if she will be more comfortable if I purchase the CB1100. I would like to put a small back rest on it for her.
Thanks.

There are quite a few seat comfort threads around, some people find the seat causes pain after 30 or 40 minutes of riding, and have bought other brands of seats, I assume the same for the passenger. I did find by the end of last season, after 3K miles I was able to ride on the stock seat for more than an hour and was starting to get used to it so may have saved myself >$500 on a new one. Of course now adays, I may agree with your wife and do not want to ride further than 200 miles either, although some here do, I would go for another type of bike for long rides, I use the CB for mostly less than 90 minute rides around my back roads.

Seat comfort is such a personal thing. Take a short ride with your wife and get her feedback on the passenger comfort.

A seat isn't going to sell the wife no matter how much better it is over the stock.
Standard style bikes are not touring bikes.
Might be better spending the money on a used tourer rather then trying to make the CB something it will never be.

A bad seat is a good excuse to get off and explore the area. Some of the best memories I've ever had came from finding something I wasn't looking for and didn't know could be there.
But if you're set on staying on the bike the whole while, a touring bike would probably be more comfortable. Though I recon the CB seat will be a lot more comfortable than the VFR, least by the looks of it.
