Dropped CB1100
#41
i bought them for looks in the first place LOL Smile

I found this bike-car collision similar to mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfvHNWZXyfs
Biggest difference with my situation, the bike actually smacked against the car :/
He was riding with his nose pointed right at the middle of the car...he did brake too...but cant see what kind of distance he had, perhaps his Sportsers brakes werent very powerfull Smile

Being elderly, I could not pick it up, and then I backed up to the bike and was able to use my leg muscles to do so. I had just enough strength to manage it.

(addendum: the windshield alone, without the hardware, will cost $200 plus shipping if I choose to fix it up...Yesterday, however, I went for an hour's ride in the country and by the time I got back home I was unaware that I didn't have a windshield...Am thinking I may just not replace it.)
I only use my wind screen if lots of freeway miles foreseen. Otherwise, like you, I don't miss it.

Yup, dropped mine on the test ride when I was looking at it to buy. I was going around a rotary no more than 15 mph, front tire rode up on the right side of a small buckle in the road as I was leaning left, I'm guessing the side wall of the tire is all that was in contact with the road at the time, and the tire simply lost traction, and down it went (at least that's my story and I'm sticking with it). I was so amped up on adrenaline I simply lifted the bike right up on to the kickstand without even thinking about it. I, of course, bought the bike, it was just too beautiful to pass up on. I also acquired a nice new broken rib out of the deal. But hey, the bike is now mostly repaired and so am I.

One day I was on the road when it was 105. After about two hours. I pulled over to rehydrate. dropped her on the curb. Went around to pick it up. Dropped it on the other side...

Confused Yikes.

The closest I came was almost letting her down gently. I was surprised by wrist didn't disconnect.

This bike is a piece of cake to pick up. Took a uturn on a private road way too tight with not enough speed. It hit the engine guard and the handlebar weight. Just a few small scuffs and I picked it up using biceps, shoulders, and lats. My last bike weighed almost 700 pounds and that bike was a cuss to lift. Had to use the back strength method for that one. No broken ribs or injuries either. I have broken several ribs playing ice hockey though. So, I feel your pain.

I've only dropped one bike, my recently bought/sold 2004 BMW R1150RT. Stopped at a stop sign on the way home from buying it, about three miles from where I bought it and it just fell over to the right. I didn't even know what happened. Never had that happen before. A passing motorist helped me pick it up, as I could not find anyplace to get hold of the darned thing. The next morning in the garage, as I took it off the centerstand, it went over on the right again before I knew what was happening. Had me spooked for awhile until I got accustomed to it. Found it only had about 15pounds of air in the front tire, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Never dropped it again though.

Heavier motorcycles tend to be easier to dead lift if they are resting on their engine guard.

I dropped mine once,I was so embarrassed I just picked it up. At least I got it over with, no more wondering when will be the first time.
